The Latest
from The Journey
The Journey office has just announced the latest
programme for Australasia.
JourneyWoman is scheduled for
29 July to 1 August 2010 at Hunter Valley, near Newcastle in Australia.
This is a wonderful opportunity for women to experience The Journey
very deeply and in a female-only environment. What is more, this
retreat is now being offered to all women, irrespective of whether
you have been through The Journey Intensive weekend or not.
All I hear is rave reviews of this experience
so I can really recommend it.
It will be presented by Katrina McGilchrist. For
more details go to www.thejourney.com/australasia/woman.htm.
JourneyMan is scheduled for 18
to 21 November 2010 at the same Hunter Valley location. As mentioned
last quarter, an amazing weekend awaits you at JourneyMan. There
are no prerequisites other than that you are a man, and in the exclusive
company of other men we tackle life's issues directly in a supportive
environment, free ourselves from the self-sabotaging rules and behaviours
that have prevented us from being all we can be, and discover who
we really are.

It will be presented by Kevin Billett. For more
details go to www.thejourney.com/australasia/man.htm.
Both JourneyWoman and JourneyMan
now allow you to continue either The Journey Practitioner or Visionary
Leadership programmes if you wish, without necessarily undertaking
the Intensive weekend, which previously was a prerequisite.
In addition to the above two programmes, the full
Visionary Leadership Programme will be run by Kevin
Billett in 3 stages between October 2010 and February 2011. The
first stage is in New Zealand (25 to 30 October 2010) and the other
two are in Australia only. For details see www.consciouscompanyworldwide.com.
The full Journey Practitioner Programme
is being run between December 2010 and mid-2011. For more details
see www.thejourney.com/australasia/practitionersprogramme.htm.
Brandon Bays runs at least the final two major retreats of this
programme.

The other events that I mentioned
in the last Newsletter are unlikely to go ahead in New Zealand now,
due to a change in strategy by The Journey.
If you have any queries about the
above programmes please use the links provided, ring The Journey
office in Australia (FreePhone 0508-JOURNEY from NZ), or you can
contact me.
Eckhart Tolle TV
I know I mentioned this in July last year, when
it was just starting out. Now I really want to rave about Eckhart
Tolle TV, having experienced it for 11 months. The range of subjects
Eckhart covers is really interesting and inspiring. What is more,
I have experienced some real insights while listening to him.
Each month there is a main talk and some questions
and answers, plus a 45-minute live meditation, which is also recorded
if you cannot see it live. You have access to every month's topics
from the date you enrol until you stop. Alternatively you can pay
a little extra to download the talks.
For example, this month's topics are:
- The Mountain and the Valley (living simultaneously in the world
of form and in the unmanifest)
- If we’re all one, why do we feel drawn toward certain
individuals in an expression of “personal love?”
- Is the ego the source of our thoughts or are our thoughts generated
elsewhere and passed through the ego?
- The Bottom Line (An amusing and insightful poem)
- Do you have any suggestions to avoid falling below the level
of thinking when entering a “portal” to Presence?
- How do we distinguish between truth and wishful thinking?
- Our Stories About Reality
- A Common Relationship Challenge (Presented by Kim - Eckhart's
wife).
See www.eckharttolletv.com/learn/
for more information and some samples. Cost is US$14.95 per month
or US$74.95 for 6 months (i.e. one free month). This equates to
NZ$22.10 (or NZ$18.50) per month at the current exchange rate. You
can also take a free 7-day trial of the January 2010 edition, including
a talk on Meditation, if you wish.
If you have not read his books, The Power
of Now and A New Earth, I encourage you
to do so now. These teachings are profound, yet Eckhart Tolle has
a clear and simple way of putting across the teaching. Nevertheless,
his live teachings are definitely worth hearing, and rehearing.
Review:The Wisdom of Florence Scovel
Shinn
I have owned The Game of Life and How
to Play It by Florence Scovel Shinn for about 6 years,
but had not read it. It was first published in 1925 and is full
of biblical quotations, so this was not the sort of book to attract
me, and although it is a slim volume, it just sat on the shelf.
What a mistake to make. The book is absolutely
brilliant and is chock-full of spiritual knowledge and inspiration.
It is surprisingly up to date, covering such modern talking points
as the Law of Attraction in a way that is immediate and inspiring.
I found it hard to believe that I had allowed this book to languish
on my bookshelves for so long. Anyway, I immediately checked out
what else the author had written and discovered that she had “written”
4 books, and that they were all available as The Wisdom
of Florence Scovel Shinn. There are a number of editions
of this book, and I recommend the one mentioned below. The four
books are:
- The Game of Life and How to Play It (1925)
is the major book of the four
- Your Word is Your Wand (1928) is a sequel
to the Game of Life and contains many specific affirmations gathered
together under specific subject headings, so is very practical
- The Secret Door to Success (1940) is a series
of talks given by the author
- The Power of the Spoken Word (1945) is a compendium
of her notes and was put together by one of her students.
While the other works are not as groundbreaking
as the Game of Life, they contain many flashes of inspiration and
are presented in the same easy-reading style as the Game of Life.
All four books contain short examples of help she has given to friends
and clients. All books are based on the use of “the word”
(affirmations) to change consciousness and bring about physical,
mental, and spiritual healing, and the attraction of prosperity.
Mrs Shinn was well known as an artist and illustrator,
a metaphysician and speaker, as well as an active healer. She died
in 1940 at the age of 69.
I heartily recommend The Wisdom of Florence Scovel
Shinn. If you can’t find it in the shops, order it freight
free through www.goodbooksnz.co.nz.
It cost me only NZ$22.82.

What Am I Up To Now?
When I got back from India, as I explained in
my last Newsletter, I was strangely unmotivated for a couple of
weeks. Then I acknowledged to myself what it was I really wanted
to do. So between Journey Processes for clients (Are you due for
another Journey process with me?) I have been spending quite a bit
of time writing a book - well two books actually! I was well on
my way with the first book which covers a lot of the material which
I have been emailing each Sunday (or near offer) to clients as the
Weekly Healing Email.
I suddenly realised that there was a much bigger
topic to write about, starting with The Creation and moving into
some of the big questions of Life. This just had to take precedence
as it was obvious that I would need to colour the content of the
other book with the shades of meaning that came from this new book.
I can report that it is going well, and providing many new insights
for me as it progresses.
Let me say that my inspiration comes from taking
a walk each morning for about 40 minutes (or longer at the weekend)
through the local reserves and paths. I can really recommend this
as a daily wake-up, as a meditation and as a bit of exercise.
Secondly, Eckhart Tolle (see above) inspires me
greatly, and I feel very motivated to spread the word about his
work.
Thirdly, I am committed to writing a Weekly Healing
Email and the discipline of doing that over the past year has been
great in keeping me inspired and open. If you don't receive this
email each week and would like to, please drop me an email (see
below) and I will add you to the email list. There is no charge!
A Journey Card
Brandon Bays and her husband Kevin Billett
have designed 44 inspiring Journey Cards that are “filled
with profound contemplations … that invite you into a direct
experience of your own enlightened awareness”. I am featuring
one in each newsletter, and this quarter it is "Communication".
"This is your invitation to be real
and to share with someone from a place of openness and compassion."

If you wish to purchase a set of The Journey Cards
please contact me, as I have them in stock - only $35 so great value.
I also have all of The Journey books available for purchase.
